Sophia Antipolis will host the next Global Congress of science parks and areas of innovation in 2026

The vote was held during the General Assembly, which took place on 26 September 2024 in Nairobi at the 41st IASP congress.

Despite major international competition, in particular from Saudi Arabia’s Dhahran Techno Valley, considered as one of the Middle East’s largest science parks, and Edmonton Research Park, one of the largest science parks in Canada, Sophia Antipolis, the leading technology hub in Europe, received the most votes.

This recognition consolidates Sophia Antipolis’s position as an innovation hub, thanks to its human scale and its diversity.

We express our congratulations to the other finalists for their contributions to world innovation. We would like to thank the IASP team and Konza technology hub for their warm welcome and for allowing us to discover their inspiring and promising future science and technology park.

We look forward to hosting the IASP community in Sophia Antipolis in 2026 for an unforgettable conference on the French Riviera!

Why Sophia Antipolis?

le pôle scs

The Sophia Antipolis technology hub was originally conceived as a centre of knowledge convergence, conducive to the creation of technological breakthroughs and the emergence of organisational and societal innovations.

From its inception, Sophia Antipolis has always been driven by sustainable development values and principles, with the aim of becoming an ‘international science and wisdom incubator’. In this vein, its urban planning model prioritised infrastructure in harmony with nature, placing people at the heart of decision-making. Today, Sophia Antipolis is acknowledged as a global reference in the area.

  • Responsible innovation to address major planetary challenges, such as the energy transition, the security of goods and people, etc.
  • Technologies that make a positive and societal impact; enhancing people’s daily lives and contributing to the common good, such as artificial intelligence in healthcare, mobility, personal assistance and technological initiatives for the social good.
Sophia Antipolis is recognised as an incubator for innovation,
supported by its human scale and its original diversity.
