Under its Articles of Association,THE SOPHIA ANTIPOLIS FOUNDATION has affirmed and reinforced its international policy for the last forty years. It deploys an internationalisation strategy based on knowledge and innovation, linked closely to its territory. Sophia Antipolis’ visibility and internationalisation are central to its genetic makeup and constitute a recognised brand which is promoted abroad.What makes this strategy so original is the implementation of a consultative approach and co-construction with all players involved.

THE SOPHIA ANTIPOLIS FOUNDATIONworks closely with SYMISA(Sophia Antipolis Joint Association) to monitor relations with international organisations, cooperation agreements, participation in international conferences, steps taken as part of bilateral/multilateral cooperation and coordinating international networks.

THE SOPHIA ANTIPOLIS FOUNDATION STRENGTHENS THE INTERNATIONALISATION OF THE TECHNOLOGY PARK THROUGH MAJOR INTERNATIONAL NETWORKS

THE SOPHIA ANTIPOLIS FOUNDATION strengthens the internationalisation of Sophia Antipolis by helping to build international networks. It founded the IASP INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF SCIENCE PARKS, an international network of science and technology parks, and for more than 40 years it has helped organise other networks, such as the ICN INNOVATION CHAMPION NETWORK and theINNOVATION EUROMED NETWORK, which now boasts a specific network for developing innovation as part of “Euroméditerranée” – an urban renewal project underway in Marseille assigned by former President of the French Republic, Nicolas Sarkozy to create new clusters in the Mediterranean area centred around focus areas such as ‘motorways of the sea’, Mediterranean clean-up operations, the Mediterranean Solar Plan and reinforce existing international ties, exchanging best practices between hubs, clusters and SMEs.


HOW CAN YOU GET INVOLVED WITH OUR INSTITUTIONAL PROJECTS AND OUR INTERNATIONAL INITIATIVES?

THE SOPHIA ANTIPOLIS FOUNDATION’S international objectives include, among others, partnership agreements for closer relationships between the Park’s stakeholders and their counterparts abroad. In the last few years, successful cooperation with thePEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA and high-tech zones in Chinese provinces chinoises, have helped to develop special programmes. In particular with Chengdu City (Sichuan Province) and the EUPIC (EU Project Innovation Center). Other cooperation builds on the development of solid partnerships with cutting-edge teaching and research establishments worldwide. Agreements have been signed with several countries:

> With TUNISIA, to consolidate links between Tunisian clusters and French competitiveness clusters

>With PERU, which wishesto implement an innovation policy drawing inspiration from the clusters policy implemented in Sophia Antipolis

>With ALGERIAin 2015, a year during whichTHESOPHIA ANTIPOLIS FOUNDATIONinitiated a major institutional twinning between Algeriaand the European Union based on “setting up an ecosystem fostering the development of ICTs in Algeria”. This twinning led to trilateral exchanges between specialists and company leaders, start-ups, intellectuals and political and administrative decision-makers from different fields, with appropriate frameworks for practical proposals.

> With THE KINGDOM OF BAHRAINwith which THE SOPHIA ANTIPOLIS FOUNDATION designed the YOUNG ARAB LEADERS leadership programme, leading to fruitful exchanges with SCIENCES PO MENTON and UNIVERSITE COTE D’AZUR.

THE SOPHIA ANTIPOLIS FOUNDATION receives international delegations. For each delegation that comes to Sophia Antipolis, THE SOPHIA ANTIPOLIS FOUNDATION organises park tours and focused meetings with companies according to the specific interests of both parties. These tours promote the growth and international reputation of Sophia Antipolis. Delegations are also shown the advantages of efficient governance by local authorities and are presented with opportunities to work with companies and research centres at the technology park.

THE SOPHIA ANTIPOLIS FOUNDATION has been involved with many projects supported by the European Union (GALLILEO MASTERS, etc.) and has worked with a number of experts in the fields of innovation and research policy, incubation, capital risk, telecentres, and technology park coordination, etc.
